Introduction to Knitting
This is where the magic begins! In Introduction to Knitting, this class will teach you essential technique and tips to allow you to begin your journey towards creating beautiful handmade items that incorporate your personal style and flair.
Goal: To learn to knit and construct a simple cowl
Skill Level: Beginner
Sessions: (3-2-hour sessions)
Supplies: Size 8, 16” circular needle, small ruler or tape measure (provided in class), 1 skein or 200 yards of light-colored worsted weight wool yarn.
Pattern: Oats Cowl by Tin Can Knits (adult small size)

Let's get together and learn small customization tricks that can completely transform the look without having to rewrite a pattern from scratch and make the top completely your own!
You can bring a sweater pattern that you would like to modify or we can assist you in selecting one.

Are you interested in knitting lace? Does the idea of reading a chart make you nervous? Come in and learn to read a chart and learn to knit a lace shawl.
3 sessions plus 1 video session on how to block a shawl.

260-340 yards of light colored chunky weight yarn,
Pembroke Wrap pattern on Ravelry (purchase at Heart & Spirit),
highlighter tape (optional),
1-40” circular needle Size 13 needles,
Size N (9.0mm) crochet hook,
waste yarn that is a different color than your project yarn,
tapestry needle, stitch markers, pen and paper optional.

Class Goal: Complete a pair of socks
1 skein of light-colored DK weight yarn wound and caked into 2 equal weight cakes,
1-40” circular needle in Size between 3-5. I would recommend Size 5 for tight knitters and size 3 or 4 for looser knitters, stitch markers, nippers or small scissors, pen and paper (optional).

To knit a stockinette sample and a k2p2 ribbed sample in the round using magic loop.
At least 100 yards of light-colored, solid worsted weight yarn,
Size 5 or 6 circular needles with a 40” cable,
Nippers or small scissors,
Pen & paper (optional).
